Who We Are
The Dalhousie Investment Society is a student-run society that aims to apply financial concepts learned in the classroom to real-world markets. This is achieved through the utilization of our Bloomberg Risk Lab, where DALIS manages a mock global macro hedge fund, The Maritime Fund, and Seaside Capital. Discussions around current world events, student-run learning sessions, and guest speakers at the weekly general meetings all help our members make informed trade ideas, which are executed with the help of our Portfolio Managers.

What We Do
Depending on their interests, members can apply to join one of our four focus groups: Global Macro, Long/Short Equities, Commodities, and Machine Learning. Each of these groups are responsible for developing its strategies to contribute to the fund's alpha. Portfolio Managers run smaller weekly sessions to discuss strategies, markets, and news, and execute trades.
Additionally, there is Seaside Capital, which is designed for students interested in Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Equity Research. Students with the technical knowledge to succeed in their respective industries participate in stock pitches and a mock M&A competition each semester.
